About Giraffe Soul
Giraffe Soul breathes new life into beloved comic books, graphic novels, and other print related materials. Utilizing heels, purses, clutches, wallets and more; Giraffe Soul creates one-of-a-kind wearable art pieces for adventurous clients. Whether you like an item from our inventory or choose to work with us on something special; the end goal is for you to come away with a piece that is as unique and creative as you are.
What is with all the giraffes?
Giraffes have always held a special place in my heart. We share the same knobby knees, long legs, and elongated necklines. There is also something endearing about giraffes, they have a quiet confidence about them people cannot help but stop and stare when they are near. Fun Fact: giraffes have the largest heart of any land mammal (just in case it comes up for you the next time you are on Jeopardy.)
Why so many shoes?
It doesn't matter how we identify or where we reside ... shoes transform how we feel and ultimately how we carry ourselves. Heels in particular not only make a person obviously taller, they help to create an air of confidence. In addition to wearable art pieces we offer custom items including but not limited to sketchbooks/unlined journals, flasks, cake plates, serving trays, and game boards. I am able to create one of a kind wearable art pieces for clients to express themselves far beyond the clip/clap of a generic heel.
**Please note that Giraffe Soul does not manufacture shoes. We purchase new shoes (or work with clients who provide their own shoes) and apply a custom design utilizing paper media to the shoe. We do not impact the integrity of the shoe (straps, padding, soles, etc). We do utilize a decoupage and shellac design technique on the sturdy platform/wedge areas with paper media.
Why primarily comics and graphic novels?
Comics have played an important role in my life. Not just in helping me to learn how to read but growing up, they also gave me an avenue in which to escape what was happening in the world around me. I love working with damaged and recycled comics because it keeps them out of the landfill and more importantly I'm able to share their value with others even though they are no longer considered to be in "good" condition.
A little about me:
Obviously I'm a person who takes themselves incredibly seriously. :) I have been over six feet tall since the eighth grade so let's be honest; how many people did I have to "look up" to at that age? I identified with the women of G.L.O.W. (Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling - you will want to Google this) and heroines like Lynda Carter. I'm a Geek Girl who is also the proud mama of a TriPawd kiddo as well as a four-legged kiddo and a partner to The Dude.
